58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference ends

Representatives partaking in the 58th commonwealth parliamentary conference leave the Island today. Deputy speaker Chandima Weerakkody said although the official stay has come to an end some representatives have informed him they would extend their stay. The 58th commonwealth parliamentary conference commenced on the 11th of September under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapakse at the Lotus Pond Arts Theatre in Colombo. The conference held under the theme ‘Ensuring a Relevant Commonwealth for the Future’ was attended by 850 Parliamentarians representing 179 parliamentary unions and staff from 54 countries.
