The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has decided to test the fuel imported, before unloading and distributing, not only at the laboratory of the Kolonnawa Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal but also at the laboratory of the Sapugaskanda fuel refinery. Accordingly, the fuel will not be unloaded from ships until the tests reveal it meets the required standards and it will distributed Islandwide subsequently. Issuing a statement the Ministry cites the Subject Minister Susil Premajayantha had arrived at the decision. Meanwhile, fuel to be utilised to generate electricity will be tested by the relevant power plants as well. It has also been made mandatory to issue a certificate subsequent to testing the fuel to be used to generate electricity. In the interim, the 3 Technical experts have been appointed to the Technical committee scheduled to overlook the modification of the Laboratories and Fuel refineries.
